Length of Work Year: 220 days
Education (Certification/License):
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s required.
Experience:
Three years of senior level management required.
Seven years of experience as head coach at varsity level required.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
·   Knowledge of effective principles of organization and management.
·   Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
·   Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
·   Ability to work with a diverse team.
·   Ability to implement policy and procedures.
·   Ability to interpret data.
·   Manage and supervise the recruitment of student-athletes.
·   Direct the District’s physical education program (PK-12).
·   Ability to develop strategic plans and organize and implement athletic programs.
·   Implement and manage team travel, lodging, and meals with all coaches.
·   Create, implement and manage athletic banquets; arrange, supervise and evaluate pre-game, game, and post-game responsibilities.
·   Supervise student eligibility for athletic participation.
·   Supervise all personnel assigned to the athletic program.
·   Supervise and evaluate clerical support staff.
·   Supervise and serve as staff resource to the Head Football Coach/Athletic Director by providing coordination and planning between the Head Coach, his staff and the central administrative staff.
·   Establish and manage administrative support for all athletic events; oversee the daily operations of the athletic program.
·   Manage and oversee the development of athletic budgets and make budget recommendations in accordance with District policy.
·   Develop, implement and promote effective public relations and coordinate special events.
·   Develop, implement and promote active and broad participation by parents and citizens in all areas of the athletic program.
·   Manage and approve the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new coaches based upon the recommendations of the Director of Athletics/Head Coach.
·   Attend Board meetings as required and make presentations to the Board.
·   Strengthen working relationships with Principals, Central Administrators, School Board, and the community.
·   Develop annual report, status reports, event programs, brochures, flyers and all other athletic publications as required.
·   Direct and manage events as directed by the Superintendent of Schools and the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and School Leadership.
·   Assist the Superintendent of Schools and the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and School Leadership in maintaining and promoting the vision and the mission of the school district in the community.
·   Articulate the needs of the athletic department to Superintendent of Schools and the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and School Leadership.
·   Supervise and manage the implementation of policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, and local board policy in the area of athletics and conduct of students in athletic programs.
·   Implement recommendations submitted to and approved by the Superintendent of Schools as they pertain to upgrade of facilities, scheduling of student athletes, parental involvement, and selection of personnel.
·   Supervise and manage records, purchases, consumption and inventory of athletic equipment.
·   Promote the educational welfare of students in the athletic program.
·   Perform other related duties and functions as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and School Leadership.
·   Establish and implement a Booster Club.
·   Supervise and manage eligibility requirements and district requirements for participation in athletics.
·   Establish and implement tutorials available to all athletes.
