Texas Cup

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Texas High School Athletic Directors Association seeks to recognize, with an annual award, the Texas High School Athletic programs, statewide, that best exemplify excellence in athletic achievement. This not a UIL Program.

RATIONALE:

The THSADA is seeking to increase the awareness of the high level of achievement and the hard work and dedication produced by all student-athletes and coaches throughout the State of Texas. The THSADA is seeking to give public recognition to those groups as an integral and important part of the total education program and system in the State of Texas.  The Texas Cup is not affiliated with the University Interscholastic League.

TEXAS CUP:

The TEXAS CUP is athletic competition sponsored by the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association that aims to determine the highest achieving high school sports programs in the State of Texas.  Points will be earned by place finished in district, regional and state competition with a graduated system of points as a team advances in competition beyond district play. Sports for which points will be awarded will be All SPORTS which UIL recognizes as a TEAM state champion.

The TEXAS CUP awards will be presented annually to six schools (1A-6A) at the annual THSADA State Conference in June. The awards will be based on information gathered by the THSADA on a point system that is devised and approved by the THSADA Board of Directors.

CRITERIA FOR CONSIDERATION

Verification of points earned by a sport will be verified through THSADA. The Texas Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A), based on their team performance in district, playoffs and state championships. The winning schools in each classification will receive the Texas Cup trophy.  Honoring the highest achieving overall athletic programs in Texas, the Texas Cup is open to all UIL participant high schools.
